My life is blessed in so many ways; I have had the love and support of family and friends to walk with me on this journey. I am now starting a new chapter in my life, and the one thing I have learned along the way so far is that you can not always pick your relatives, but also that family can go beyond blood. I have met and spoken with many people through URNA over the last several years, and I think it provides many of us an outlet of strength and courage we may not have always had. It is so important to have the opportunity to be yourself, however you choose to express.
The burden of judgment can bear heavy, but in the end it is always going to bring happiness to live your life to the fullest. It does get better, it is not always a smooth path, but the journey is worth the reward. Each of us is at a different stage, some of us are not free to express ourselves the way we wish and are forced to do it in private. Some of us have the courage to go out; but unknown to those that are important to us. And there are the fewer of us that have been fortunate enough to embrace our life for all that it has to offer with love, support and encouragement. We can all remember how alone we felt when we took those first steps. That fear can be so imprisoning at times. It does get easier, if you are there to help make a difference and do our part as a community. We love and cry like everyone else, we build a wall to protect our secret. Once those walls are high enough it becomes a prison.

We strive for the love and acceptance of others, but when given the chance do you offer it as well?

I challenge you to reach out in the up coming year, and be there for those that are now in the shoes of need.


Now I am looking forward to what is in store for me in the future.
